Penang Trip! Day 1

Well I know there are many places to start looking for good food but why Penang?

The reason is because I went there with my family, not just MY family though.

Back to the point!


The first place we went to eat wasn't at Penang but its along the route from KL to Penang. A little detour for good food won't hurt right?

LUNCH

The place's name was Bidor, its a small town but it has good food and that all it matters. To me anyway.

This is the restaurant's name. Restaurant Choon Kee.  It also has the name of the dishes its famous for.

I don't know about other dishes but these are the one we order everytime we go there. 

Starting from the top left, there's the soup, there's the Kangkung, on the left is two pieces of steamed pork with salted eggs and another one is with salted vege, on the bottom is  Steamed egg with prawns, and fried kampung fish on the bottom right corner.

And the signature dish? Fried Pork Intestine with pineapple!! (sorry for the bad image) 

The sweet taste of pineapple and chewy pork intestine taste mix  together. Never tasted anything close to this. Perfection. 

DINNER

The lunch was great! but dinner was better!! 

Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat!! Note: It uses charcoal to heat the pot instead of gas!!

This is located along Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth.

What makes it so special?

The menu is awesome, it lets you choose fixed sets of items.The one we chose consists of abalone, sea cucumber, scallops, cuttlefish, and other items you would normally find in normal steamboat restaurants.

The Soup and the pot! Notice that the soup is kind of milky, like the soup of fish head vermicelli. And also notice the top of the pot theres a black thing, thats the charcoal.

SUPPER

I am truly sorry that I have not managed to get the pictures for this meal.

The Supper of day 1 is GRILLED FISH. The grilled fish is great! Its wrapped in banana leaves filled with chilli, garlic, some special sauce and god knows what he put in there!!

All I can do is break it down to 3 parts :

The Smell

The smell of the sauce is soooo great! Makes you hungry that's for sure!

The Fish
The fish is really really FRESH. Its texture of the meat is perfect!! The taste of the fish alone is already wonderful.

The Sauce
I don't know what is in the sauce except chilli and garlic. But the sauce really brings out the taste of the fish! 



It's the end of my food trip of day 1 in Penang.
